In class today we learned about how Eric Karle made himself into the famous children's author he is today. This was very interesting and we all learned how he made the color filled pictures in famous books that students have come to love. After learning about him and his practices we took it to the art room to design one page scenes/stories and used the same method he does for his story books. I did mine about a Bat named Pat. This bat is flying through the dark sky. You will see down below that instead of doing a traditional background I chose to try something different and show Pat flying around like bats would.

I think this could easily be done in the classroom. Many ages can do something like this to talk about books they are reading or maybe the class is reading together in a class such as Reading. I try to make more of a unit out of it. That would require the students to write more so that it can be integrated easier, and they will not only be doing art, yet the art will facilitate the learning.
